Mandatory 28 days quarantine for returnees: Nagaland Govt

Kohima, May 18 (MExN): Nagaland Government today modified the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for persons entering the state, making it mandatory for returnees to undergo 14 days mandatory institutional quarantine.
According to an order issued by Nagaland Chief Secretary, those entering the state from May 18 onwards will have to undergo mandatory 14 days institutional quarantine at designated centres followed by 14 days mandatory Home Quarantine.
For persons above the age of 60 years, children below the age of 10 and their parents and pregnant women and accompanying spouse, thorough screening will be conducted by the Medical Team at the Quarantine Centre after which they will be sent for 28 days mandatory home quarantine.
In the case of persons who arrived before May 18, the new SOP will not apply for those who came from Green/Orange zones and have not crossed Red Zones en route to the state.
All other provisions of the SOP issued on May 14 shall continue to be in effect, the order stated.

Govt left to take action as deemed fit in line with existing laws
Dimapur, May 18 (MExN): Three Dimapur organizations on Monday issued a declaration leaving it to the State Government and District Administration to “take action as deemed fit as per existing laws and provisions” on matters related to setting up quarantine facilities in areas under their respective jurisdictions.
The declaration was signed by the President and General Secretary of Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation, President of Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation and President and General Secretary of GB’s Union Dimapur (Sadar), during a coordination meeting with Y Kikheto Sema, who is in-charge of COVID-19 response in Dimapur, W Honje Konyak, Secretary, F&CS and Rothihu Tetse, DImapur Commissioner of Police.
Placing on record its appreciation of the role played by the State Government and Dimapur district authorities in COVID-19 response, the organizations issued a joint press release stating that they “shall have no objection for utilization of Quarantine Centres within our respective jurisdictions, which are already identified, by the Empowered Group of Dimapur District.”
Should there be any genuine problems against such Quarantine Centres the problem may be intimated to the organizations “for taking up the matter to the appropriate authority,” the release stated.
Additionally, “if any village, colony or ward raises objection to setting up of Quarantine Centres within their jurisdiction, the undersigned leaves it to the Government and District Administration to take action as deemed fit as per existing laws and provisions,” it said.
“Given the fact that the returnees are our own children, brothers, sisters and relatives, we declare our full support and cooperation to the government and district authorities in the common fight against the pandemic,” the release stated.
