Manifold error in Nagaland HDR

Sir-Nagaland Human Development Report released January needs to be appreciated and debated thoroughly as rightly pointed out by the top officials during the official release ceremony. The Governor of Nagaland Shyamal Datta, in his address is reported to have said that he should be informed thoroughly about the progress of the report in every five years. However Nagaland HDR report gives two literacy rates of 1961. Which figure 17.91 % or 20.40 % is correct?

Some anomalies noticed was with reference to facts and figures of percentage of literary rate in Nagaland and also the other figures that followed. In page 6, the literary rate of 1961 showed 17.91%; where in page 18 it showed 20.40%. Again in page 33 it showed 20.40 % and in page –119 it showed 17.91%. So which is the correct figure? This should be properly clarified so that there in no confusion for future references.

Further in page 123, the literacy rate is of 2007(The date must be a printing mistake). And the biggest technical error is that data’s in table 5.2 did not match properly.

Again in page 155, on Women, role in legislators, it said only four ladies have contested state elections so far, however this is also wrongly written. As per the records available so far a total of five, excluding those three in 2003 women contested the state elections. This would mean that seven ladies have contested the elections in Nagaland so far. The concerned department should give an immediate clarification.
