Manipur CM calls for all party meeting on the issue of state’s territorial integrity

Newmai News Network Imphal | October 27   An "all political party meeting" will be convened on Saturday, October 28, at the Manipur Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal on the issue of Manipur territorial integrity, Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh announced on Friday. The Chief Minister said his Government "has reaffirmed not to compromise with the territorial integrity of Manipur and oneness of its people at any cost.”   This development has come few days after United Committee Manipur (UCM) had warned that "there would be another June 18-like mass uprising if any solution to the ongoing political dialogue between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) impinges upon the territorial integrity of Manipur."   Speaking to media persons on the sideline of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Spot Painting Competition at DM College Multipurpose Hall in Imphal today, the Chief Minister informed that the resolution of reaffirmation on the territorial integrity of Manipur was taken during a meeting of Ministers and MLAs of “coalition partners” held some days back.   In order to strengthen this stand, an all-political party meeting would be held on October 28 (Saturday) at 4 pm at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, N Biren Singh said while adding that apart from taking a firm decision on the territorial integrity of Manipur, an all-political party delegate would visit New Delhi to inform the Central leaders about this stand and ground reality if necessary.   Responding to a query regarding Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s assurance to Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal on the former’s assurance of not altering Assam’s territorial boundary, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP National President Amit Shah had already made the same promise to Manipur as well during campaigning of the last Assembly elections.   The Chief Minister also said that he has trust in the leadership of the current Union Government. However, the State Government of Manipur would directly approach the Central Government if any suspicious move surfaces in the coming days, N Biren Singh added. Earlier this month, N Biren Singh had stated that "solution to the Naga issue should not disturb peace" in Manipur.
