Manipur CM for ‘Reunited Heritage Park of Manipur’ at Makhel

Makhel  (Senapati), December 29 (MExN): Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh on December 29  expressed the need for mutual respect among different communities to live in harmony and batted for development of a heritage park at Makhel.  

He was gracing the cultural session of the Makhel Heritage Conclave commemorating the 88th Anniversary and Conference of the Mao Students' Union (MSU) as the honoured guest.

Extended greetings to MSU on its 88th anniversary and conference, Singh also asked the union and Mao Council to constitute a committee to develop a Cultural Heritage Hub which he personally wants to name as "Reunited Heritage Park of Manipur." 

The park needs to be developed taking into account that Makhel is considered by many communities of the state as well as neighbouring Nagaland State as the dispersal site of their ancestors, he said. 

He also assured a sum of Rs 5 crores towards the planned Heritage Park from the Art and Culture department, Government of Manipur, a press release from the MSU informed. 

Meanwhile, Singh also highlighted the changes in developmental scenario in the district during the last 4 and half years of his government and further advocated the district-wise participation and allocations in every department of the government.

The event was attended by more than 2500 people including the 1400 students’ delegates attending the conference, the release said. A talent hunt competition was held later in the evening.

Besides the students, the event was also attended Dr Lorho S Pfoze, Member of Parliament, Government of India as the Special Guest; and L Dikho, Minister for PHED, Printing and Stationery, Manipur; and A Kapani, Caretaker, Chairman, ADC, Senapati as the Hosts.

Susindro, MLA, Khurai Assembly Constituency; and K Moses Chalai, Secretary, North Eastern Council also attended the event.
