IMPHAL, JULY 2 (NNN): Flood situation in Manipur valley is grim as many localities have been affected severely by the calamity on Sunday. Thoubal district, Imphal East district and some places in Imphal West district have been affected badly by the flood as rivers breached embankments on Sunday morning. According to reports, some houses at Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai have been swept away as Imphal River breached its embankment. Reports said that a large number of people have been rendered homeless by the flood in Lilong area. According to the reports, around 8 houses were damaged by the flood in Lilong Haoreibi Leikai this morning. A separate report said that paddy fields have been inundated by rain water in the locality. In Imphal East district, the worst hit locality has been Kongba area. Kongba River breached embankment in the wee hours of Sunday making the locality inundated. PWD Minister Thongam Biswajit, who is also the local MLA, rushed to Kongba Erong and Ucheckon Lai Moriba area this morning and joined the local people in repairing the breached embankment.
