A police inspector was among the four policemen arrested by Manipur police during the course of investigation into a drug haul case. The four policemen were arrested after placing them under suspension from their services issued on November 14.
The order placing the inspector under suspension from his service was issued by Director General of Police, LM Khoute while the suspension orders of other three policemen were issued by SP of Tengnoupal district police Th Vikramjit Singh on the same day (November 14).
Immediately after suspended from their services, police arrested them, sources said.
It added that they were produced in a local court on Saturday and remanded to police custody for further investigation into the involvement in the drug haul case, an official source said.
The arrested inspector is identified as Letkhohao Vaiphei who was the in-charge of Moreh police station.
The other three policemen were ASI T Poaminlun Haokip, head constable Md Khalilup and driver Luckson Kom, all posted at Moreh police station of Tengnoupal district.
The four were suspended for grave misconduct and dereliction of duty in exercise of power confers under rule 66 Assam Police Manual part-III.
Sources said that the four police personnel were arrested on suspect of their involvement in the seizure of a large quantity of narcotic drugs/psychotropic substances from a house at Moreh Ward No. 9 on November 12 last.
During the raid at the house by a team of Tengnoupal district police, 34 cartoon boxes containing ketamine injection P labelled as KETAMAX50 were detected.
While detecting the contraband items, police had stated that the boxes contained a total of 10,755 bottles suspected to be Ketamine injection IP labelled as 30 ml Ketamine injection IP (50mg/ml) labelled as Ketamax50.
After registering a case on the seizure of the contraband items, police have been investigating into the case and they were arrested based the preliminary finding of the investigation, the source said.
