Newmai News Network Imphal | November 27 The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has decided to "defer" the proposed indefinite bandh along all the highways in Manipur that was scheduled to begin from the midnight of November 27. Earlier, the TSA had announced to call bandh to protest the alleged physical assault of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, Secretary General of TSA-GHQ, by 12 Assam Rifles at Sita Lamkhai Check Post, Tengnoupal on November 12, and "inaction of authorities". "This decision was taken following a fervent appeal from the Chief Minister's Office not to go ahead with the bandh in view of the on-going Sangai Festival while assuring that he would address our grievances and take up necessary actions after the festival which is scheduled to end on November 30," the TSA-GHQ said. According to the student body, a meeting was held today between TSA leaders and Assam Rifles authority led by the DIG, 26 Sector of Assam Rifles, but it decided to hold another round of meeting as a definitive agreement on all the demands put up by TSA could not be reached in today's meeting. "However, if our demands are not met and our grievances not effectively addressed as assured by the authorities within a reasonable time, TSA will be left with no option but to launch the indefinite bandh on national highways (Imphal-Jiribam, Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Moreh roads) at a later date until the demands are met and justice is delivered," the TSA-GHQ asserted.
