Manipur: ZNC, LNC, RNC reaffirm unity and solidarity

Newmai News Network Imphal | August 13 The Zeme Naga Council Manipur (ZNC-M), the Liangmai Naga Council Manipur (LNC-M) and the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNC-M) discussed the issue of strengthening the unity of the cognate tribes of Inpui, Liangmai, Zeme and Rongmei. They have taken the decision to “reaffirm the unity and solidarity of the four cognate tribes under the Joint Working Committee (JWC) of the four cognate tribes which was constituted during the movement for recognition of the four tribes under the Constitution of India.”   This decision was taken during a ‘joint meeting’ of the ZNC-M, LNC-M and RNC-M on August 9 in Imphal. Other organizations that participated in the meeting were Zeme Students Organisation Manipur (ZSOM), Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), Rongmei Students Organisation Manipur (RSOM), Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) and Liangmaipui Naga Ruangdi.   The ‘joint meeting’ condemned the incident of "merciless attempt to murder after beastly act of raping a minor girl of 15 years studying in class 9 in the evening of August 1 at Viewland Colony of Senapati district headquarters."   The joint meeting also expressed "deep anguish, frustration and dissatisfaction over the inaction of the State authorities to nab the culprits." It demanded that the Manipur State Government immediately book the "criminals" and punish them as per the law of the land.
