Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 (MANPAC) will oppose the “one nation - one language” idea.

'MANPAC will oppose any attempt to impose Hindi language in the state', its convener Yumnamcha Dilipkumar asserted on September 29.

The MANPAC convener was talking to reporters on the sideline of a meeting of leaders and representatives of civil society organizations of the state to discuss on the proposed mass movement across seven northeast states against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

The meeting held at Lamyanba Shanglen in Imphal’s Palace Compound was attended many social activists.

Dilip said that the meet was organized to make a success on the mass movement which MANPAC was planning to launch with the active support of the civil organizations of the state.

He reminded that the decision to launch mass movement against CAB was taken at a meeting held at Kohima under the aegis of the North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP).

He said that CAB was not able to be passed by the Parliament after people across the Northeast states rose up against the bill which MANPAC had taken a leading role in the state.

At any cost, CAB cannot be enforced in the Northeast states, he said.
