Imphal, October 30 (MExN): The Mao Academy organized a seminar on Maomei and Maola from October 28 to 30, which concluded with a closing programme at St Paul Retreat House, Mantripukhri Imphal on Saturday.
According to a statement from the Academy, the seminar was held with the objective of promoting Mao language 'Maola', its usages and applications and the coordination of the language with the people of the community. Scholars, Researchers, Experts, Professionals and Members of the Academy shared on different topics relating to the community and the language that is spoken and community building through promoting good relationship with the neighbouring communities.
Each topic shared were deliberated and discussed and a blueprint to carry forward in action was adopted and prepared.
The need for overall development of the community in different fields was also shared during the seminar.
The Mao Academy also shared the struggles and success stories from inception to date.
The recognition of Maola language as MIL in Board of School Education, Manipur in 2008 and Council of Higher Secondary School Education, Manipur in 2017 and the effort to introduce in graduation level were also shared.
More than 200 people from different parts of the country took part in the seminar.
The Academy also acknowledged Maola BOSEM and COHSEM 2020 awardees by presenting them with gifts.
It may be mentioned that Mao Academy was formed in the year 1977 with the objective to promote Maola language.
