Mao Students’ Union Delhi celebrates 53rd freshers’ meet

New Delhi, November 4 (MExN): The Mao Naga community celebrated its annual get together and 53rd Freshers’ Meet here on November 1, drawing around 1,200 attendees from across the National Capital Region.

The event, organised by the Mao Students’ Union, Delhi (MSUD), was graced by Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and Textiles, as the chief guest.

In his address, Margherita highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of connecting the Northeast with the rest of India. Wearing a traditional Naga waistcoat, he urged the youth to work together for a united Manipur.

Cultural performances, including choir presentations, traditional dance, and folk songs, marked the event. Stalls displaying Mao art, crafts, and paintings added to the festive atmosphere.

Awards were presented to Chiisiiyia Phimu as Miss Fresher and Lohrii Augustine as Mr. Fresher. The event also featured a fashion segment curated by design student Paziini Kashae, with Eloziia Krichena, a Sub-Inspector with Delhi Police, as the showstopper.

The gathering showcased a mix of traditional and contemporary cultural expressions, reflecting the community’s vibrant heritage and youthful energy.
