Marathon for a correct census

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 5 (MExN): The Department of Census alongwith the district administration organised a mini-marathon on Saturday, February 5 in Dimapur.  Themed: ‘Run for the Future’, it was organised with the objective of creating awareness on the Census 2011.
Students from Government Higher Secondary School, Christian Higher Secondary School, State Sports Hostel, Dimapur and the Dimapur Sepaktakraw Association took part in the marathon. The runners numbered around eight hundred.
MLA and Advisor cooperation & sericulture Azheto Zhimomi flagged off the rally from the Walford junction. The marathon passed through the New Flyover, Deluxe Point, NL Road, Circular Road, City Clock Tower and culminated at the DDSC stadium.
Prizes were also given away to the winners. Zhimomi, during the prize distribution ceremony fervently appealed all the citizens as well as the officials, shouldered with the responsibility of carrying out the census operation to be sincere and honest. It will result in giving an accurate census reading and eventually help in the planning of the state, he averred.
Census Director Hekali Zhimomi while thanking the MLA for participating in the rally informed that the second and the final phase of the Census 2011 will begin from February 9 and end on February 28. The Director added that the Department of Census will be organising community meetings in all the districts  for further awareness on the census operations. It will include political parties, village representatives, GBs and the civil societies. The meetings will be supervised by the ‘community monitoring committee’ under the Department of Census.
