March 16 incident at Bhandari town peacefully resolved: GPRN/NSCN

The incident at Bhandari town on March 16, where the duo of father and son were severely assaulted by a mob, which included two GPRN/NSCN officials has been amicably settled in the spirit of forgiveness and brotherhood at the Hiyam of Kilo Kilonser Hevukhu Yeptho.

The two GPRN/NSCN officials involved in the assault namely Mhachan Lotha and Nzanchamo Lotha, on behalf of all the perpetrators, some of whom are under police custody, admitted and apologised to the 51 year old victim Mhonchan Patton for the brutal assault meted out to him and his son and in true Christian spirit, the victim, though still under medical treatment, accepted apology and forgave the offenders.

This incident had all the ingredients to turn into a feud between Bhandari village and Yimpang village, seriously tarnishing the image of GPRN/NSCN. The wisdom and maturity exhibited by Bhandari Village council and Yimpang Village council is praiseworthy. Senior Lotha National workers too played a positive role in bringing the two sides to an understanding. The forgiving spirit of the victim’s family is truly remarkable. It is like a fresh breeze and Naga society as a whole feels elated when such understanding and forgiving spirit springs from volatile atmosphere.
