March 25 ‘mastermind’ confesses: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, May 26 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today released what it said is the “confessional statement” of the alleged police personnel accused of masterminding the March 25 gang-rape and robbery at Darogapathar in Dimapur. The ‘confessional statement’ released by the ‘MIP’ named the person as one Temsulemba Longkumer, a ‘sub-jail warder.’

The NSCN (IM) said it took in Temsulemba Longkumer on April 6 as part of the group’s “investigation”, on the basis of the confessional statement of Imtikumzuk and Hetoi, two of the five accused in the March 25 Doragapathar crime.

According to the “excerpts from his confession” as the statement said, Temsulemba Longkumer was a ‘sub-jail warder’ and while serving in the sub-jail he became acquainted with accused Hetoi. In 2008, Hetoi was released after completing a jail term but again arrested by the police for robbery and was jailed in Dimapur Central Jail. Later, in the first week of February 2009, Temsulemba bailed out Hetoi on the assurance of being given the latter’s bike. After the release, Hetoi asked Temsulemba “to direct some gazette officer’s residence where they could rob some money,” the statement said.
