A Botoking
DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): With an earlier news report carried by a daily stating that vendors are rushing back from the Super Market back to the New Market in order to sell their goods, this paper decided to check up on this report. Surprisingly, this paper found that though there were still a major number of vegetable and meat vendors who had remained in the Super Market to sell their goods. Akole, a vegetable vendor, said that though some of the vendors had indeed shifted back to the New Market, she had decided to stay back in order to follow the order passed earlier by the DMC. Another vendor said that though business was better in New Market, she had decided to stay back since business had picked up in the Super Market, with more customers coming nowadays than in the earlier days of its inception.
Inspite of the rather very windy and dusty weather, this reporter saw quite a number of customers braving everything to do their shopping before they went home. Hokheshe, a customer who was busy buying vegetables said that it was a good idea to maintain the daily market at Super Market since it was not as crowded as the New Market and also, parking for his vehicle was much more convenient out here. It remains to be seen whether the daily market will remain as it is in its present form or undergo another round of change due to the change of leadership at the DMC.
The Super Market, as of now consists of not only vegetable vendors but also local meat and second hand vendors who are earning their livelihood through this market.
