Masons told to make safe constructions

Mon, April 27 (DIPR): One-day Seminar on Mason Training for Disaster Management was held at the DC Conference hall, Mon on April 25.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS in his brief introduction informed that the North Eastern States including Nagaland lies in the dangerous earthquake zone and urged the gathering to be aware and vigil because Nagaland is situated in a vulnerable zone. Emphasizing on the need of coordination and support in times of disasters, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the government officers, staffs and the NGOs to come forward and give voluntary services whenever disaster strike in the district. Stressing on safe constructions of houses and buildings, he advised the participant to construct earthquake resistant building by following the present technique of the new research team.
The SDO (Civil) Mon Sadar, Hiazu Meru and SDO, PWD (R & B), Mon Er Chinglang Konyak were the resource persons of the Mason Training for Disaster Management. They spoke on the topic “Concept of Disaster Management” and “Improvement of Masonry to prevent Disasters” respectively.
