Kohima, July 18 (MExN): Sechüma Youth Organisation (SYO) has called for a mass social work on July 19 to repair the PWD road which connects Sechü Zubza and Peducha via Sechüma (Zapenuolieza point) and Kiruphema village. A release issued by SYO president Petekhrietuo Nipu today informed that the mass social work was initiated as the said PWD road has deteriorated in due course of time. He, however, informed that the day’s work would be confined to the area which comes under Sechüma and Sechü Zubza, the sub-divisional headquarters of the Western Angami region.
Gayatri Projects Ltd will also assist the youth body by providing excavator(s) on the day, it was informed. In this regard, SYO has requested all concerned to take part in the social work which will begin at 8:00 am. The members have also been informed to come along with spade, dao and other necessary tools and equipments which may be required on the day.
Following the complete cut off of the National Highway 29 at Peducha, the PWD road connecting Sechü Zubza and Peducha via Sechüma and Kiruphema, along with the Peducha-Tsiesema road, has become the lifeline for the State capital and the areas beyond. These two roads have been serving as the alternate routes ever since the major landslide occurred on the highway at Peducha on May 14, the release added.
