A devastating fire broke out in Naga Gaon Colony, Signal Basti; Dimapur on Wednesday, completely destroying over 40 households. The incident occurred around 11:40 am, with eyewitnesses reporting that several cooking gas cylinders exploded, intensifying the blaze and causing it to spread rapidly.
Four fire brigades managed to bring the fire under control by 12:20 pm. However, the damage was extensive, with numerous properties destroyed, including one autorickshaw, one bike and one scooty.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Sources stated, “There was no one at the house from where the fire started and therefore the exact cause remains uncertain.”
It may be mentioned that a fire broke out at Kuda village on January 1 which left six families displaced. Another massive fire engulfed Lower Naharbari, Ward 8 East Dimapur, on January 2, rendering more than 1000 families homeless. The third fire incident occurred at Lhomithi Colony on January 3, rendering 11 families homeless.
The Naga Gaon incident marks yet another tragic fire incident in Dimapur, raising concerns about fire safety measures in residential areas.
