Zunheboto, July 8 (MExN): Massive soil erosion has reportedly occurred in Alahuto colony, Zunheboto town, which according to the residents began on July 6 last.

A DIPR report stated that the newly elected member of Zunheboto Town Council from the concerned colony, Vikheshe Aye said that officials from District Administration and NSDMA Zunheboto took stock of the ground situation and precautionary evacuation was advised. District Administration provided emergency relief funds to the thirteen effected households in which, three houses were forced to be demolished completely for safety measures, according to Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS).

Looking at the magnitude of the eroding soil, major landslide is anticipated which could be of serious concern, DC added.
Large material damages, electricity and telephone poles and lines disconnections have been reported but no human casualties, as a result of the soil erosion, till the time of filing this report, DIPR added.
