Under the vision, guidance and support of the chief minister, the government of Nagaland will be establishing a new centre of excellence for the music and arts fraternity in the heart of the state capital. Announcing this at the inaugural program of the two-day Master Class on Microphone Technology, Sound & Wireless Systems that began today at RCEMPA, Advisor to the chief minister of Nagaland, Abu Metha said the centre will be inaugurated within this year.

He highlighted that the centre will have infrastructure for performance, recording studios, incubation centres, libraries, research centre for folk and traditional music, and archives for musicians to come and study and research. In a state that is trapped and challenged with so many shortages of resources, he expressed that “every idea that you want to implement, or any initiative needs resources and support of the government.”

However, despite the lack of resources, he pointed out that the support to TaFMA has been very good while at the same time, TaFMA has done very well despite limited resources and funding. Further stating that there is a general impression that TaFMA gets too much fund, he said, “These complaints are good because it shows that it is doing well.”

Supplementing to this, he added that TaFMA has been using that in a judicious and transparent manner.

Putting across that their engagement of the fraternity is ensuring that their programs are successful, he also complimented their involvement and engagement of social media. “It may not be the best in the state but it is among the best government departments in the country,” he stated. He impressed upon that other departments should also follow suit while asserting that the one sure way of transparency is technology.

Articulating that dreams and aspirations today are unlimited with the power of social media, he urged artists to use it positively and responsibly. He called upon the participants to learn as much as possible from the Master Class. Beyond that, he said, “build your network and connections in a society that is ever changing.”

He said the master class is not just a commercial initiative but a contribution towards the nation building process.

Congratulating TaFMA for yet another wonderful initiative, he recalled that when the state government decided to rehash the Music Task Force, the government, under the vision of the chief minister decided to take a pragmatic approach as far as the arts and music fraternity is concerned by bringing in people from the music fraternity.

He said that has been very successful and TaFMA has done fantastic work in the past four years by engaging with the real stakeholders of the arts fraternity. In this regard, he added, “this is not only the success of the government but of the fraternity itself.”

A total of 80 people registered for the master class including participants from the states of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Earlier, Fali Damania, Market Development Manager, Shure India spoke about the program while Kezhiah Semy presented a special song and Project Director, TaFMA, Dr. Hovithal Sothu chaired the event.
