 
                          
                  
Dimapur, July 29 (MExN): The police have arrested one man suspected to be behind the May 15 murder incident in Dimapur wherein one Vivito Kiho (30 yrs), a resident of Diphupar ‘A’, was shot dead. The victim, reportedly a cadre of a Naga Political Group, was shot near the New Dhansiri Bridge. The police subsequently registered a suo moto case under IPC section 302 r/w section 27 of the Arms Act.
The Dimapur police in a press release informed that the accused was arrested on July 17 following weeks of investigation during which his movement and activities were monitored. The accused was identified as Angukavi Achumi (30 yrs), a resident of LRC colony, Dimapur and a ‘Lieutenant’ in the GPRN/NSCN.
The release said that undercover policemen on July 17 waylaid the accused at Burma Camp where “he had made an appointment to meet one of his friends,” who was also suspected to be an NPG cadre. “At about 1120 hrs, the accused was spotted and the personnel on operation duty immediately surrounded and arrested him and brought to East PS on the 63rd day after commission of the crime,” the release said.
While stating that he was remanded to 10 days police custody during which “he admitted his criminal act in the murder of Late Vivito Kiho,” the released added that the accused was subsequently forwarded to judicial custody on July 28.
