
Mokokchung, June 13 (MExN): Following the case of hit and run incident which result in the killing of Mapuienla Longkumer at Chümoukedima on May 26, the Ungma Senso Mongdang (USM) on Monday cautioned that it will take its own course of action.
“Despite the fact that the tragedy occurred weeks ago, the police have yet to provide any leads in the investigation,” USM, President, I Tiajungba Longkumer and General Secretary, Senmoaba Imsong stated in a press release.
While questioning “on the law enforcement agencies' ability and diligence,” the union demanded that the perpetrator be arrested as soon as possible; “otherwise, the Senso will take its own course of action, and any untoward incident will be dealt with by the concerned department.”
The union alleged that Mapuienla Longkumer, a bona fide citizen of Ungma village, was “murdered because of the cowardly act of a reckless driver who hit her and ran over her and fled the scene without having any remorse to the human soul.”
“The Ungma Senso Mongdang had faith that the law enforcement officials would do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrator and deliver justice to the bereaved family,” it asserted.
Meanwhile, the union has appreciated the condolence and solidarity shared by various organizations especially the various student organizations rendered towards the untimely tragic demise of Mapuienla Longkumer, of Ungma village at Chümoukedima on May 26. “The Ungma Senso appreciates the outpouring of support during these trying times and hopes to continue working together until justice is served,” it added.
