May 8 killing elicits more condemnations, call for justice

Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): The killing of a 25-year-old college student in Dimapur on May 8 elicited more condemnations today even as several organisations demanded justice as well as extended their condolences. The student identified as Supou P Lamthio succumbed to her injuries in a hospital after she was allegedly shot by Thengio Khiam, reportedly a Deputy Kilonser of NSCN (Khango Group).

GBUD (S): The GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) condemned the killing as “senseless brutal murder” and stated that when every Naga are yearning for peace, such barbaric act had proven that the unruly mindset of the perpetuator negates the agenda of a peaceful environment.  The act has greatly disturbed and created a sense of fear psychosis in the minds of the citizen where safety of lives is still a far reality, it said. 

In this connection, the GBUD (S) apprised the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate and award befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest as per the law of the land without clemency to deter such heinous crime in the future. It further expressed solidarity and offered condolences to the bereaved family members.

KMHD: The office of the Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam Dimapur  (KMHD) also condemned the killing as a ‘inhuman act’ which is unacceptable in the society.

Every right thinking citizen should condemn such act of heinous crime, the KMHD stated, further urging the law enforcing authority to award the punishment to the culprit as per the law of the land so as to avoid such kind of crime in the near future. The KMHD also offered prayers to the bereaved family for strength and courage to overcome their grief. 
TSUD: The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) also termed the killing an “inhumane and diabolical act,” threatening the very fabric of peaceful society.

Accordingly, the union requested to all right thinking citizens to condemn such high handedness and appealed the law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned and ensure that befitting punishment be awarded to the perpetrator at the earliest. No bail should not be granted under any circumstances, it added.  

The TSUD further offered solidarity and offered condolences to the bereaved family members, Unity College students, faculties and well wishers during this time of grief.
