65 students at Mayangnokcha GHSS attended basic first aid training programme on September 2.
Mokokchung, September 4 (MExN): The Junior Red Cross Society, under the Mokokchung district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), conducted a basic first aid training programme for 65 students at the Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School here on September 2.
The training team, led by IRCS Mokokchung Honorary Secretary Dr SS Akaba, included treasurer Nungsang Jamir, management committee members Allen Mark Longkumer and Dr Sunep, member Ali Walling, and office assistant Imnasenla Aier.
Dr Sunep facilitated the session, which covered a comprehensive range of emergency response techniques. These included Wound management (bleeding control, dressing, bandaging, snake bites), Fracture management (splinting, immobilization), Burn care, Shock recognition and response, Allergic reaction response (e.g., Epi Pen administration), Basic life support (ABCs: airway, breathing, circulation, Recognition and response to common medical emergencies (e.g., heart attack, stroke).
Teacher-in-Charge Sentila Jamir oversaw the programme, which is an annual initiative by the IRCS. Its primary objective is to equip students with essential first aid knowledge for effective emergency response, thereby fostering a culture of humanitarianism and community service among the youth.
