Maybe (Again): SunDay's first original release is here

Dimapur, July 7 (MExN): After years of performing together and quietly honing their craft, Nagaland-based indie pop/rock band SunDay has officially entered the world of original music with the release of their debut single, “Maybe (Again).”

Written by guitarist Imsuakum Kichu in 2022, the track remained a seed of an idea until the band finally brought it to life in the studio four years later, in 2026. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Pongtsu Jamir in Nagaland, the single marks not only SunDay’s first official release but also the beginning of a journey the trio has been building toward for years.

At its core, “Maybe (Again)” is a meditation on loving someone you know you can never truly have. Rather than dramatizing heartbreak, the song leans into the quiet weight of longing, unanswered questions, and the emotions that often remain unspoken. It is an honest reflection on the kind of love that lingers, even when there is no happy ending.

SunDay consists of vocalist Nukshijungla Kichu, guitarist Imsuakum Kichu, and drummer Yathi Lemtur. Though each member comes from a distinct musical background and individually listens to different genres, they naturally meet in the middle to craft a sound that blends indie pop and indie rock with sincerity and emotional storytelling.

Before venturing into original music, the three spent years performing together, developing the chemistry that now defines their songwriting and live performances. Those experiences laid the foundation for a band that values authenticity over trends and is focused on creating music with lasting resonance.

The name SunDay carries a simple but meaningful idea. Just as Sunday marks the beginning of a new week, the band hopes each song can be the start of something new for listeners—a memory, a feeling, or a story they can return to.

“Maybe (Again)” is only the first chapter. With more singles already in the works, followed by an EP and eventually a full-length album, SunDay is committed to building a body of work that grows naturally over time.
