MCD take measures to streamline Muslim Community of Dimapur

Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): To streamline the Muslim Community of Dimapur, the Muslim Council Dimapur convened a meeting of all “Jame Masjids” (permanent) and “Pangajana Masjids” (temporary) committees within Dimapur District on September 17, 2017.

A press release issued by the Muslim Council Dimapur stated that as a first step the matter of mushrooming of “Pangajana masjids” which are temporary in nature was discussed and it was unanimously decided that all such temporary prayer houses would be regulated by the Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD). Verification and registration would be done to asses if at all some are necessary or not and weather proper norms of a “masjid” are being followed or not. The verified “pangajanas” would then be attached to their respective area “Jame Masjids” for proper coordination.

In this connection, Ahidur Rahman, Working President of the Muslim Council Dimapur appealed to the land owners within Dimapur district not to rent out or lease out their land to any group or individuals to set up any “Pangajana masjids” without the consent n permission of the MCD and also cooperate if some prayer houses needs to be closed down upon verification by the MCD. The Council also sought the cooperation of the district administration. GBs and all concerned as this would be a historic step by the MCD which would definitely be a preliminary step to streamline the community.

It was also resolved that the Imams (priests) of such temporary prayer houses, hence forth needs to get a proper verification before he gets appointed at these “pangajanas” and a board shall be formed with senior Imams to take their interview.

MCD would convene more such meetings to discuss matters which would help regulate and streamline the Muslim community in Dimapur.

Meanwhile MCD appeals to all Muslims to cooperate with the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Dimapur for proper registration under the GBs in different colonies in Dimapur n in Chumukedima as the MCD earlier on 2012 appealed to the state government for verification of migrants of all communities and also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Nagaland in 2015 for the same reason.
