MDCC demand ‘reinvigorated’ investigation of hit & run case

MOKOKCHUNG, JUNE 9 (MExN): Four college student’s unions, under the banner of the Mokokchung District Combined Colleges (MDCC), have demanded “reinvigorated investigation” into the alleged hit-and-run case in Chümoukedima, which led to death of a student of St Joseph University on May 26.

A joint statement from the Fazl Ali College Students’ Union, People’s College Students’ Union, Tuli College Students’ Union and Jubilee Memorial College Students’ Council said that they “are not satisfied with the statement made by Dimapur Police during a recent press conference on the hit-and-run case.”

It demanded “reinvigorated investigation into the case to book the culprit immediately.” Further, in solidarity with the aggrieved party and to seek justice, it informed that the MDCC students’ body shall hoist black flags in the colleges for 5 days with effect from June 10 to June 14.

“We shall resort to further course of action in case the investigation is not brought to its conclusion and the culprit booked within the next 5 days,” it cautioned.

The MDCC students’ body meanwhile appreciated the different students’ bodies, organizations and individuals for their support and contribution towards this cause.
