Mokokchung, January 27 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) today expressed high hopes on the young Under-15 footballers who have been undergoing an intensive free football clinic cum coaching at Mokokchung for the past two weeks. The free football coaching for the U-15, initiated by the MDFA for the second year, is aimed at identifying, tapping and promoting young football talents in the district. The free coaching, which was held on the theme ‘Talent Hunt’, saw forty young boys registering for the program. The youngest to register was a young boy aged 9 years. They had been intensively coached and trained by veteran football players roped in by the MDFA. The coaches were: Lanunukshi, Nungsangyanger, Kora Walling and L Achi. After weeks of training, the young boys played an exhibition match for ninety minutes, and the MDFA gave away certificates and medals to the participants of the coaching camp. The ‘Tournament Secretary of MDFA’, Supongwati while speaking with media persons, expressed great hope that the youngsters, if they show the same consistency and dedication would one day become great footballers. He further disclosed that the MDFA is planning to hold another special football clinic in the month of June, during the school summer break. He further disclosed that the MDFA is planning to hold either an Inter-school football tournament or an Under-15 Inter-club tournament this calendar year. Nonetheless, Supongwati deeply acknowledged the MDFA for holding the free football camp successfully for two consecutive years; he also appreciated the coaches, the parents, the football lovers and the participants for making the football clinic a great success.
