The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) inaugurated its new office complex on the first floor of the District Youth Hostel, Mokokchung on Saturday.
Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Imkongchuba. In his address, Imkongchuba described the event as a “historic milestone,” stating that the new office complex is more than just a physical structure—it stands as a symbol of vision, determination, and progress.
“Over the years, MDFA has been more than an association. It has been a movement—a beacon that has inspired countless youth to lace up their boots, run after dreams, and build discipline through football,” he said.
He further applauded the association’s recent initiatives, including the launch of the Zonal Association Program under the theme “Football at the Grassroots”, which aims to take the sport to rural areas and schools. He also lauded MDFA’s growing role in talent scouting and coaching camps, and the success of the MDFA Trophy in fostering community engagement through sport.
However, Imkongchuba emphasized that structural development must be accompanied by internal integrity. “Without structure, even passion cannot stand,” he remarked, calling for strong, transparent, and accountable leadership within the MDFA.
He encouraged the association to dream bigger, not just in organizing tournaments, specifically urging them to establish a Football Academy under the Khelo India platform. “Let’s not wait for the perfect time. Let’s start with what we have… when we start small but dream big, amazing things happen,” he said.
The event marks a major step forward in the association’s long-standing mission to promote and develop football in the district, MDFA President N. Akok Longkumer stated. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders specially the former Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung for allowing the space.
A dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev Talijungla of the Ungma Baptist Arogo, invoking blessings for the future endeavours of the association and its newly inaugurated premises.
