MDFA Trophy 2016: Suyim SS enters semis

Mokokchung, October 15 (MExN): A dogged performance saw Sports Society Suyim (SSS) edge past the undefeated OCYU by a solitary goal to book a place in the semifinals of the MDFA Trophy 2016.   The quarterfinal match witnessed one of the one tournament favourites, SSS vigorously attack a resolute OCYU defense which was aided to a large extent by their seasoned goalkeeper.   Suyim SS with their strong midfield and strikers, especially in the persons of Osen and Moatemsu, were relentless in attacking. But, to their credit, the OCYU defense line was stubborn and unyielding.   However, Suyim’s persistence aided by their large support base paid off in the 59th minute as their midfielders managed to find a gap in the four-man strong OCYU defense. In the ensuing run of play, an attempt on goal was deflected by the OCYU goalkeeper, which somehow fell right into the boots of Ngulie Pochury (Jersey – 7) who put it beyond the keeper’s reach and into the back of the net.   SSS continued to attack even after the first goal pushing the OCYU players to defend till the final whistle.   Meanwhile, the match patron for the match was Superintendent of Excise, Mokokchung, Moarenba. Upcoming young singer, Mejena, a thirteen year-old schoolgirl, presented a special song at the programme.   October 17 Matches Dilong Y/A Vs Socianian FC (2nd quarterfinal) @ 1:30 pm
