The Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) held an awareness talk with Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) on Lok Adalat and the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012at The Mokokchung Press Club Chamber at DPRO office, Mokokchung on July 28. It was held as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahatsov.
Limanungsang Jamir, Retainer lawyer, MDLSA gave a brief introduction to the working and functioning of Lok Adalat and MDLSA, 2012 while Mapujungla, Project Assistant, MDLSA gave a detailed talk on Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012 and Lok Adalat.
While briefing the gathering the Project Assistant informed that Lok Adalats are held every three months but the responses from the public are very disheartening especially with reference to Mokokchung district.
Mapujungla also stated that although Lok Adalats offer the public a good opportunity to resolve disputes amicably and conveniently, many people still do not fully appreciate their advantages. The next Lok Adalat will be held on August 8, she further informed.
MPC, President, Limalenden Longkumer, thanked the MDLSA for the session and stated that the MPC would assist in any manner it could in getting the word out about the advantages of various legal initiatives.
The awareness talk ended with a lengthy interaction session between the members of MDLSA and MPC members.
