Mokokchung, October 11 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Martial Arts Association (MDMAA) celebrated its silver jubilee on October 10 and 11 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. The jubilee celebration also included the commemorative martial arts tournament, a district level event conducted on both days, during which 127 participants took part in 7 different disciplines.
The inaugural function had former Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Alemtemshi Jamir, as Chief Guest. The MDMAA felicitated the founding members and international medal winners at the jubilee celebration. The inaugural function also saw the presence of DC Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS and K. Libemo Jami, District Sports Officer. A souvenir and memento of the jubilee was released by the chief guest.
More than 130 medals were given away at the prize distribution ceremony and B. Merangken Longkumer, Convenor, Jubilee Planning Committee, concluded the closing programme with the vote of thanks. Moalong and Akumienla Aier were declared the most promising players of the tournament and Marsowa and Purlemla were declared the Best Fighters of the tournament.
