The Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) in a press conference held at Mokokchung Channel Hall announced that the MDVA will be organizing the 14th edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2019 from September 17 to 20 at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy is one of the most popular tournament and one of the highest paid trophies in the state. Apart from the cash prizes for the champions, runner-up and two semi-finalist team, the MDVA also awards three individual prizes including Best Spiker, Best Setter and Player of the tournament.
The organizers said that each participating team are given match allowance so as to encourage the young players from the state. The MDVA also confirmed that 10 teams will be participating at this year’s edition including two teams from Dimapur and Zunheboto.
The organizers further stated that the Imcha Masters Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy is the only trophy played in carpet with digital counting of points which was introduced in 2016. They also said that the organization has been successful in providing job opportunities to exceptional players in the field of sports through this tournament.
The tournament will kick off at 4:00 pm on 17th September 2019 at Multi-purpose sports complex, Mokokchung, with Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung as the inaugural patron.
