Mokokchung, July 11 (MExN): District Task Forces for Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign, which will be launched on October 3, are conducting meetings in respective districts of the State.
Mokokchung: The meeting in Mokokchung was held at the conference hall of ADC Planning. District Programme Officer RCH-UIP, Dr. Temsuyanger said the campaign aims to build up immunity for both measles and rubella diseases and prevent the diseases in the community. Children aged between 9 months and 15 years are to be vaccinated during the campaign. The vaccine, he stated, should be taken regardless of their previous vaccination status as the dose given in the campaign is supplementary which is a safe and an effective vaccine for elimination of the disease.
The meeting also discussed and made preparatory plans and programmes for the campaign with a minimum 95% of the target age group to be vaccinated. Dr. Abishek, WHO RRT, who also attended the meeting as an observer and representative of the campaign, also gave his advice, views and the importance of the success of the campaign.
Peren: In the meeting held in Peren at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, New DC Complex, DC S. Tainiu highlighted the importance of MR campaign which is being organised across the country. She also lauded the noble initiative taken up by the Government of India to create awareness to the public for the success of the programme.
A DIPR report informed that Deputy CMO, Dr. Supongmenla and DPO (RCH+UIP), Dr. Nukshisangla shared all the plans and targeted areas of the campaign. They emphasized the need for cooperation of important departments, churches, NGOs, Army School and public for successful outcome of the MR campaign. They emphasized that not a single children between 9 months to 15 years should be left out of immunization programme.
Private practitioners are required to support the District Task Force for successful implementation of the programme. All block levels will be monitored by respective officers heading the area.
The task force will be responsible for positive or negative outcome of MR campaign and to work out for remedies. Series of meetings will be convened depending on the need of MR campaign and its implementing agencies as required from time to time before the campaign kicks off.
Phek: Phek District Task Force conducted meeting on Measles-Rubella campaign on July 10 in the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
Dr. Kolhitso Khalo, District Immunization Officer highlighted on the campaign activities and strategies. He stressed on the importance of inter-sectoral coordination with all allied departments including Para-military service. DC Phek Orenthung Lotha requested all allied departments to extend full support and corporation for successful implementation of the campaign.
Dr. Prafull Singh, RRT (WHO) briefed the participants on the roles and responsibilities of various departments during MR campaign. He informed that all children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years would be vaccinated in schools and health centres across the district. He added that no house to house vaccination will be conducted.
The house also discussed that school enrolment and Anganwadi registration will be used to estimate target population for MR campaign.
A press release issued by District Media Officer NHM Kutolu Nakro stated that all identified hard-to-reach population would be covered by Mobile Medical Unit and Medical personnel of 22 AR Unit hospital Phek will also assist in some of the hard to reach areas.
Block level training will be conducted to sensitize block level officials of all allied departments including Principals and Nodal teachers of all Government and Private schools in the district.
