
Kohima, July 28 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) has launched the ‘Mediation for the Nation’ campaign in the State as part of a nationwide initiative by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India.
Conceptualized under the guidance of the Chief Justice of India and Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA and Chairman, MCPC, the campaign is a 90-day intensive drive to settle pending cases through mediation across all Taluk, District, and High Courts in the country.
In compliance with NALSA’s direction, the NSLSA has directed all District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in Nagaland to conduct the mediation drive from July 1, 2025, aiming to resolve eligible cases through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The NSLSA stated that “the different category of cases which can be referred for mediation during this campaign are Matrimonial Disputes Cases, Accident Claims Cases, Domestic Violence Cases, Cheque Bounce Cases, Commercial Disputes Cases, Services Matter Cases, Criminal Compoundable Cases, Consumer Disputes Cases, Partition Cases, Eviction Cases, Land Acquisition Cases and Other Suitable Civil Cases.”
As part of the ongoing drive, DLSAs in the state have already referred a total of 450 cases for mediation, out of which 12 cases have been successfully settled.
“In view of this 90 days National Campaign, ‘Mediation for the Nation’, all the advocates, litigants and general public are requested to take advantage of this said campaign and refer their cases (if it falls under the above mentioned category), for mediation,” the NSLSA informed.
