The medical assessment camp for persons with disabilities for Unique Disability ID (UDID) got underway here today at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.

“Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities” project is being implemented with a view of creating a National Database for PwDs, and to issue a Unique Disability Identity Card to each person with disabilities.

The project is under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan).

The project will not only encourage transparency, efficiency and ease of delivering the government benefits to the person with disabilities, but also ensure uniformity.

The project will also help in stream-lining the tracking of physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation from village level, block level, District level , State level and National level.

The objective of this project is to enable the PwDs to obtain the new UDID card / Disability Certificate to avail schemes and benefits provided by the Government through its various ministries and their departments. This card will be valid pan-India.

The UDID portal shall be designed to provide an online platform for the following; new application for UDID, renewal of existing Certificate/Card on expiration of validity and in the event of loss of card/certificate

In addition to the above, the UDID Portal shall also provide information on the various schemes/benefits, procedures to apply for Disability Certificate/UDID Card, Success Stories, Suggestions/Feedback, Manuals etc.

Organized by Directorate of Social Welfare, Nagaland with Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, similar camp has been scheduled for October 28 as well at the same venue NHAK from 9:30 am onwards.

Akihoto K, state coordinator UDID, Directorate of Social Welfare Nagaland informed that the government is planning to hold similar medical assessment camp in other districts as well.
 
Who can apply: Any PwD under the 21 different types of disability notified in the RPWD Act 2016; PwD with old disability certificates issued by competent medical authority; PwD without disability certificates.
 
Documents Required: One passport size photo; Disability certificate from medical authority; ID and residential proof (Aadhar, Voter ID, PRC etc.
