Medical camp conducted at Hoshepu Village

Dimapur, January 29 (MExN): A medical camp was conducted on January 28 at Hoshepu Village, covering Hoshepu Range under Aghunato Block by the Department of Health & Family Welfare Zunheboto. The medical team was led by the Chief Medical Officer Zunheboto, Dr. Viheshe Yepthomi with Dr. Alemwabang Aier, DIO, Dr. Akaho MO Suruhuto PHC, Dr. Heroto, MO Tokiye PHC, Dr. Puluto, MO Aghunato CHC, Dr. Ganato, MO ART Centre, and Dr. Esther, MO (Dental) District Hospital. Other nurses, paramedics, staffs and IEC Official from CMO’s Establishment also assisted the camp.
P. Renthungo Odyuo, District Media Officer, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Zunheboto in a press note stated that a brief inaugural function was held prior to the commencement of the camp wherein introductions were made and the customary welcome address was delivered by the council chairman, while the CMO also gave a short speech followed by benediction by the Pastor. The Health camp received an enthusiastic response from the community, and a total of around 300 patients were given free Medical checkups and treatment for various ailments aside from provision of free medicines. Apart from that, other services provided during the Medical camp included blood grouping, blood slides collection and testing and sputum collections, counseling on health and distribution of IEC materials.
The community lauded the Department for undertaking such activities aimed at alleviating the problems faced especially by the rural poor and the elderly  section of the population who otherwise have little or no access to healthcare for a variety of reasons, and requests for more such events to be organized in the future were received from several quarters.
It is worth mentioning that Hoshepu range consisting of four villages under Aghunato Block is a historical place, as the first ever Indo-Naga war was fought here in 1955, during which the Indian Army suffered heavy casualties and the four villages of Hoshepu Range viz. Khekiye village, Hoshepu village, Khewoto village and Nihoshe village Served as the GHQ, CHQ, Defense Post and Defense outpost in that order, of the Naga Army and monolith commemorating this fact has been erected here.
