Medziphema demands cure for ailing health centers

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): Responding to a news reports regarding the ailing Medziphema Community Health Centers facing acute shortage of doctors and facilities, the Medziphema Village Council has urged the Health Department to address the problems facing the CHCs in the sub-division.

“It is a fact that that number of patients at CHC Medziphema on any given day is simply unmanageable by a single doctor since it serves not only Medziphema but many other surrounding villages. With regard to Trauma Centre, not a single equipment or furniture has been installed for which, we are informed, major portion of the fund allocation has been given” a statement from MVC chairman Rokovor Kuotsu, Balie Dolie and Miathou Krose stated. It was warned that failure to address these problems by the concern department would be considered negligence which would ultimately mean “playing with precious lives.”

The council asked the Health department to immediately depute doctors against existing vacancies and those posted should station themselves at Medziphema instead of “making occasional appearances” and demanded to know when the Trauma Centre will be functional since the building construction has been completed long time back.
