Dr T Esther Longkumer receives award during 35th foundation day of ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema on October 15.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema has conferred awards to the concerned societies and employees during its 35th Foundation Day held on October 15 the presence of Nagaland Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Neiba Kronu.
The best Semi-intensive Mithun Rearing Model award 2022 was bagged by Porba Mithun Farmers’ Cooperative Society, Phek district and Tening Mithun Society, Peren district. Homkong Yame from Arunachal Pradesh and Chuba Herang of Manipur bagged the best Mithun Farmers’ Award 2022.
Dr Kobu Khate, CTO Medziphema and Dr T Esther Longkumer, CTO Porba bagged the best employee award 2022 under technical category.
Thokchom Dipal Meitei, AAO received best employee award 2022 under administrative category. KD Choudhury, SSS, Medziphema and Vezhocho Hesuh, SSS, Porba were declared as best employee award 2022 under supporting category.
The award was handed over by Minister Neiba Kronu, Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner, Y Kikheto Sema and Dr Abhijit Mitra, Director ICAR- CIRC Meerut.
The programme also witnessed distribution of inputs to Mithun farmers from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. It was followed by interactive session of Mithun farmers with NABARD and SBI and farmers’- scientific interaction.
110 Mithun societies registered with NRCM
Till now, a total of 110 Mithun societies had been registered with the National Research Centre on Mithun NRCM), Medziphema, out of which 22 is from Arunachal Pradesh, 25 from Mizoram, seven from Manipur and 56 from Nagaland.
National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema has established 36 Semi-intensive Mithun Rearing Model under Tribal Sub Plan programme by distributing CGI sheet, barbed wire, trevis, mineral block and dispenser etc.
Vaccination against FMD, numbering of Mithun by ear tag method and farmers training are some of the regular activities.
