Two elderly women part take in the Sekrenyi feast at Local Ground, Medziphema on February 25.
Medziphema, February 25 (MExN): Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK) and GBs of Medziphema Town organized Sekrenyi Festival celebration at Local Ground, Medziphema Town on February 25.
To mark the event, a press release from the organizers stated that hundreds of members from Medziphema village in traditional attires entered the venue to demonstrate the cultural practices of the Angami Nagas.
Akhoto Kuotsu, President, MTMK, chaired the function while Rev Zhabu Terhüja, Pastor, BC 'A' MT said the invocation and Ningusie Meyase, Head GB, highlighted the importance of Sekrenyi festival.
A choral was presented by Medziphema Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho while Salhou Miasalhou & friends rendered folk song and octogenarian Pfüneinyü Nakhro, Former Chairman, Medziphema Village, delivered greetings and exhorted the gathering.
Others who spoke during the event included MLA Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, GoN and Dr Kevingulie Khro, former NPF candidate. Vote of thanks was delivered by Salie Chüsi, GB, Ward-6, whereas Arho Niphi, Pastor, Sepruoliezie Baptist Church, Medziphema Town, pronounced the prayer for the public feast which followed after the programme.
