Meet held regarding PWDs

Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): One-day convergence meeting on Disability – Nagaland was held on March 20 at People in Need Foundation (PNF), Dimapur. The meeting was attended by government officials, NGOs and several individuals.

A release informed that PNF chairman explained the growth of work among disabled persons in Nagaland, particularly Dimapur. From village level formation of Disable Peoples’ Organization to formation of State Level Disability Forum was a great leap, he stated.

The departments then shared their services to the People with Disabilities (PWDs). Each department had taken up the issues of PWDs and initiated several programmes. Notable among them were food and civil supplies, Nagaland state transport, Education department’s SSA-IED, District Social Welfare and Medical department, the release added.
The discussion that followed raised issues like revival of District Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) at Dimapur Hospital complex, activation of Dimapur Unit Red Cross Society and the need for pressure groups to follow up the issues with the authorities concerned.
