Kohima, September 20 (MExN): A meeting on All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) was held in the conference hall of the directorate of Higher Education on September 20 with the agenda of discussing quality issues related with AISHE data and status of AISHE 2016-17.
In her inaugural address, Director of Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi impressed upon that each institution should prove themselves as qualitative and be able to catch up with the country through their participation and efficiency through AISHE. She observed that through AISHE, institutions have been able to properly manage their human resource and are also able to ascertain the number of people within the institution.
Stating that it is a very systematized way of working, she said that it is also a test to their abilities as nodal officers. She also lauded them for their hard work, skill and ability while pointing out that it is a difficult job. Further congratulating the nodal officers for their efficiency in operating online, she said that the good thing is they have been able to make institutions function not only in a systematized manner but also with transparency. Adding that “only skilled people can do this,” she expressed hope that the abilities of the nodal officers are further enhanced. “It reflects the very essence of quality in you”, she maintained and urged upon them to continue to maintain a good label in the AISHE portal.
Joint Registrar of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Shyien Vihienuo highlighted on the registration of the university in the AISHE survey project wherein all the affiliated colleges also got registered and the accounts of the colleges are maintained by the nodal officers. She also informed that a separate AISHE cell has been set up at Nagaland University to give technical support and further giving emphasis on the importance of accurate data, she called upon the nodal officers to give correct information.
State Nodal Officer, Rokono P.Keyho said that AISHE was officially launched in 2011 and is now in its 7th year. Referring to Nagaland state, she said there are 4 universities, 64 affiliated colleges and 16 standalone institutions including 4 polytechnics, 3 nursing institutions, 9 teacher education institutes. She also asserted on quality statistics and quality uploading while impressing upon the nodal officers to be accurate on whatever data they are uploading. Stating that many important government policy decisions that are being made also depend on AISHE data, she said, “You all play a very important role in this endeavor.” Participants of the AISHE meeting included nodal officers of secular colleges.
