Demanding that the tenure of the Garo Hills District Council (GHADC) should not be extended, the Meghalaya unit of BJP has urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to impose Administrator’s Rule on the council if no heed is paid to their demand.

"The term of the Executive Committee will end in October and I have taken an appointment with our Governor and in all likelihood will meet him on coming Monday or Tuesday,” BJP State president, Ernest Mawrie said on Friday.

The BJP contended that an extension, it necessary, should only be made under administrative rule.

The BJP is also demanding that the GHADC elections should be held on time.

Meanwhile, on the prospects of the BJP in the GHADC elections as and when it happens, the BJP Chief said, "We have already completed the formation of our organisation at several levels be it the district or block and we stand prepared.”

He also informed that they have already invited applications for candidature and the last date for submission is September 28.

"We are well prepared", he said adding that they hope the next Executive Committee in the GHADC will be led by the BJP.
