Dimapur | December 6
Even as COVID-safe advocacy continues, people still manage to circumvent advisory. A planned night carnival by a church in Burma Camp, Dimapur has been nipped in the bud after a concerned citizen flagged it.
According to a banner put up by the church, the fair was scheduled to be held from December 8-10 in its premises. The citizen wondered whether the district administration has approved of the scheduled fair.
It however turned out that the church had applied to conduct a “gospel programme.”
The Deputy Commissioner, when contacted by The Morung Express, said, “We gave them permission for a ‘gospel programme,’ not for a mela (carnival). They have asked for permission to conduct a gospel programme only.”
He added that he has directed officials to talk to the church and have the carnival cancelled.
