
Kiphire, March 30 (MExN): District Health Society organized a Health Mela in Kiusam village of Kiphire district on March 29. The aim of the health mela was to provide various health care services and distribute free basic medicines.
Dr. C.T Patton (CMO Kiphire) led the medical team that comprised of the District Program Officers of CMO office, specialists/medical officers of District Hospital Kiphire, technical staffs of CMO and District Hospital Kiphire, NHM staffs and staffs of Kiusam Sub-Centre.
The programme took off with an invocation by the pastor of Kiusam Baptist Church. The services provided during the health mela included Gynae, Paediatrics, Dental and other cases. For IEC activities, counseling through Interpersonal Communication (IPC) sessions was conducted on March 28 which targeted eligible couples. The sessions focused on topics of family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria & other vector borne disease. Leaflets on various health related topics both in local dialect and English were distributed.
Imnasenla Pongener, CMO Office, Kiphire in a press release informed that altogether 300 patients were examined which included 3 tubectomy and 15 IUCD INSERT IGNOREions. Laboratory test for malaria and TB were also carried out.
