Phek, September 8 (MExN): ATMA Phek, Meluri Block conducted training and demonstration at Khumaisu village on August 20 and Meluri village on September 7 under Meluri Block.
The ATMA functionaries Visapa Movi ATM, Neilhui ATM and Nuzo ATM, were the resource persons. The farmers were trained on seed selection and seed treatment processes for maximum yield. Grafting methods for fruit trees such as whip graft, cleft graft, propagation through air layering and T-budding were demonstrated to the farmers.
During the training program, Coffee Nursery Farm School was inaugurated at Khumaisu village where Luozhiesii Martha was selected as the Farm School teacher, the farmers were also trained on cultivation practices of coffee and encouraged to take up this enterprise to boost their economic status.
An exposure visit to Zhipu village under Wazeho Block was also carried out by ATMA Meluri block as part of its activity a total of 8 farmers from Meluri took part in the visit. A Farmer’s Interest Group (FIG) was also set up in Meluri village. Altogether 51 farmers from different FSGs, FIGs were mobilized for the training and demonstrations.
