Meluri, June 1 (MExN): The Office of the Sub Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Meluri, in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Nagaland, Kohima, conducted the Meluri District Students' Science Seminar on Friday at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Meluri.
Organized to commemorate National Science Day 2025, the seminar was held under the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” It marked the first district-level academic activity for students since Meluri was officially granted district status on February 21 this year.
Eight students from four schools participated in the event, presenting innovative ideas and scientific insights. Lorraine Singson, a Class 10 student of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, won first place. Her schoolmate, Atsürhe Nyuthe, also from Class 10, secured second, while Atsaking Pechungri of Class 10, Presbyterian High School, was awarded third. All winners received cash prizes and certificates, while all participants were presented with participation certificates and cash incentives.
SDEO Meluri, Kaitunchap Newmai, expressed pride in the achievements of the students and stressed the importance of cultivating scientific thinking and creativity among the youth. “This event is not just a competition, but a call to inspire innovation and build a brighter future,” Newmai said.
The SDEO office also expressed gratitude to the Department of Science & Technology, participating schools, judges, and all contributors for their support in making the event a success.
