Meluri orgs refute allegations made by MLA Yitachu in complaint to CS

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 6 (MExN): Several organizations from Meluri today termed the allegations made by MLA from 20 Meluri A/C, Yitachu in a complaint to the Nagaland Chief Secretary as “unsubstantiated” and “false.”

This was stated in a declaration made by the Meluri Area Public Organisation (MAPO) along with the VCCs of Meluri and Khumiasu villages, issued through the ADC, Meluri.

Yitachu, a Naga  People Front MLA, had alleged in his complaint that the aforesaid organizations had resolved to excommunicate attendees of the NPF/Congress consultative meet on April 6 and those who voted in favour of the Congress; to deny food grain supply rice under old age pensions to 91 houses; to deprive excommunicated members of birth certificates, indigenous certificates, land and property ownership certificates, land ownership rights for Government grade IV posts etc; and to disallow the excommunicated members from partaking on traditional and cultural festivities.

“There are no ex-communicated members at Meluri Village, Khumiasu Village or at Meluri Town as reported by the MLA,” the declaration informed. It further affirmed that “we receive and enjoy all rights and privileges provided by the Government.”

It however said that “some members have been temporarily denied privileges as per customary practice, due to their denial to cooperate with the Village Development programs under our respective Village Council/VDB.”

Regarding these members, the declaration informed that the Village Councils of Meluri Village, Meluri Town and Khumiasu Village have agreed to restore and provide the same privileges as enjoyed earlier from August 5 onwards.

“All members agree to co-operate with the Village Council/VDB in all developmental works,” it added.

A representation to the similar effect was also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Phek.

Meanwhile, the Meluri Area Public Organization, Meluri Area Youth Organization and the VCs of Meluri and Khumiasu villages submitted a separate representation to the Chief Secretary expressing regret that the MLA had “stooped down so low to allege the particular village leaders as terrorizing the whole tribe (Pochury),” and termed this as “unbecoming of a good leader.”

“His statement and falsified complaint has no iota of truth, hence he stands answerable to the citizens of Meluri as to how and which extent has the civil bodies/VCCs committed crimes to coin them as terrorist,” they added.

The organizations demanded that the legislator substantiate his allegations with documentary proof.
