Men’s U25 State trophy: Nagaland loses to Manipur in opening match

Men’s U25 State trophy played at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): In the men’s U25 State one-day trophy played at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati on November 17, Nagaland lost to Manipur by 5 wickets in opening match. 

According to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), Nagaland after having lost the toss and invited to bat first could amass 195 runs (All Out) in 47.2 over. Fine knock of 68 runs by Captain Akavi and contributions from Hiketo (32 runs), Sanjay (25 runs) and Tohuka (23 runs) took Nagaland to a modest total. Initially, Nagaland top order batsmen played brilliantly but none could capitalise their innings and further no contribution from the tail ender saw Nagaland scoreboard at below par total.

For Manipur, Bikash Singh took 3 wickets while Bidash, Alfred Hmar and Nitesh claimed 2 wickets each.

Manipur reached the target in 42.2 over losing 5 wickets in the run chase. For Nagaland, Sunil took 2 wickets while Mynul, Akavi and Tohuka registered a wicket in their names.

Nagaland will play against Arunachal Pradesh at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati on November 18 at 8:00 am.
