KROS College in Kohima hosted a Mental Health Awareness Campaign on September 5, aiming to enhance students' understanding of mental health and suicide prevention.
The event, which targeted first, third, and fifth-semester students, was organized by the Medemer Funds Society in collaboration with Young Minds NE, a Kohima-based mental health organization.
The programme kicked off with an introductory address from a representative of Medemer Funds Society. Following this, Vivoto from Young Minds NE delivered the welcome address.
A lecture was delivered by Daewon Nongrem, founder of Young Minds NE. He focused on crucial aspects of mental health, including understanding mental health conditions, recognizing the signs and symptoms of someone in crisis, and practical ways to offer support. Nongrem also emphasized the importance of early intervention and the role that peers and communities can play in suicide prevention.
The campaign offered students practical tools and knowledge to foster a more supportive and informed atmosphere within their college and in the community.
